Thanks for dropping in!
My name is Loyd Thomsen. I'm a rancher and self-taught
bladesmith living in Southwest South Dakota. Due to the constraints
of running a ranch, it is virtually impossible for me to get to
any of the major knife shows, thus the reason for this site.
My knives are
100% sole authorship, from the forging of the different types of
steel to the hand carved sheaths that compliment the knife when
finished. Each knife I build is one-of-a-kind. As you will see when
visiting my knife gallery, I make a variety of fixed blades, full
tang models, hidden tang models, and every once in awhile, a lockback
folder.
Each
knife I build is one-of-a-kind!
In other words, your neighbor down
the street is not going to have a knife just like yours! The
only way I will build two-of-a-kind, is if it is requested by the
customer, such as a father and son set of knives or if a customer
wants a matched pair with consecutive serial numbers. Each knife
is serial numbered on the front side of the guard, and the sheath
carries a corresponding number on it as well.
